We are a Safe Church congregation!

First Presbyterian Church is committed to being a safe church, which means we strive to maintain a safe environment for children, youth, and adults that will help them participate freely in the church’s ministries and programs according to our session-adopted guidelines. Our goal is for all of God’s children to feel the welcome and love of Jesus Christ and to develop a lifelong relationship with Christ.

These guidelines include requiring all volunteers involved with children’s and youth ministries to attend a “Safe Church” training session. We will be expecting all volunteers to have a background check as well. We are a church that looks out for the care and nurture of our children, youth and all adults involved with our ministry programs.

If you have not yet attended a training session, join us on July 11, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and July 18, 4 – 5:30 p.m. Please let Christina or the office know which session you’ll be attending. 447-2078.

Live Scan will be at the church on Sunday, July 25th from 11:30 am -12:30 p.m. for volunteers who need fingerprinting. If you cannot make this time, you can pick up a form to take to the local Live Scan services for fingerprinting. We are asking each member to pay $20 for their own scan, if possible. If not, just tell Live Scan to "bill the church."  (Live Scan is an electronic computerized technology. It allows for the digital capture of fingerprints and the immediate transmission of fingerprint records to the Department of Justice, FBI or other authorized receiving agency. As mandated by federal and state statutes, fingerprint records are used to determine an applicant's suitability for employment, licensing, certification and volunteer clearances.) Forms are available in the office or you can fill one out while you are waiting.
